My work is heavily influenced by Wabi Sabi a Japanese aesthetic philosophy that finds beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and incompleteness. It involves appreciating the rustic, weathered, and simple qualities of objects and life, and is rooted in the acceptance of natural cycles of growth and decay.
The majority of my materials are sourced from the beaches of the Pacific Northwest. All wood and stone pieces have been cleaned, sterilized, and sealed to preserve their natural beauty. Some of the wood has been left in its natural state, and others have been sanded and sealed to bring out the beauty of the woods color and grain.
